Moab Canyon Pathway - Bike Trail in Moab, Utah

Moab Canyon Pathway

Moab, Utah -- Near Arches National Park

Equipment: Trek and a pedal-assist Townie Touring Bike

We road our bikes along the Moab Canyon Pathway and it was such a beautiful ride.

We highly recommend !!

The Path wound along the Colorado River with breathtaking views.

It is well-paved.

Again, the views of the sheer rock cliffs and huge red rock mountains were unbelievable. Several times I had to stop riding just to take in the breath-taking landscape and take photographs.

We also videoed a lot of the bike ride.

We rode to the entrance of Arches National Park as well for a total of 10 miles.

Spanish Trail Campground Critique - Moab, Utah

Spanish Trail Campground
Moab, Utah
Near Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park
Rig: 36’ 5th Wheel   Tow Vehicle: Dodge Ram Dually long-bed

This Park was average for us but one of our most expensive RV Parks on our 74 Day SouthWest trip at $81/night. This park was definitely not worth that price but most of the parks in Moab are about the same. The nicer parks were easily $90-110/night or more.

However, the gorgeous red rock mountain behind the Park made quite a nice view when sitting out by the RV. And we could look out our door to the East and see gorgeous mountains and sunrises.

Full Hook Up (FHU); fairly clean bathrooms/shower facility.

Great pool and hot tub area with lots of nice patio furniture.

Adequate small laundry facility. Nice staff, small office with a small selection of camping items.

Spanish Trail has small gravel sites that were pretty level. We were in close proximity to our neighbor but enough room to extend slides on both sides and awnings without touching.

It was a little difficult to park our long-bed dually on the site with the camper.

There is not much grass in this area of Utah but each site had a very green patch of grass and a picnic table. (We were there in September) Piper loved the green grass as she had to learn to potty on sand or gravel on this trip. Our little Southern dog was not use to this terrain.

The Park/Campground is on the south side of Moab so we had to drive 5 mi into Moab and then north to access Arches and Canyonlands.

There is a fabulous bike trail in Moab that accesses Arches National Park. It is a MUST if you enjoy biking. More on this in another Post.

Full disclosure:  We loved Canyonlands National Park and I posted about it.

We only liked Arches. If in the area you need to see it, but it was not in our top 3-4.

Moab was quaint and interesting. No Wal Mart or Big Box store. One semi-large grocery store. Lots of small shops with high prices. I knew this ahead of time so we stocked up on groceries in Cortez, CO, before traveling to Moab.

Happy Trails and thanks for following along.

Sundance RV Park Critique

Sundance RV Park

Cortez, Colorado

Near Mesa Verde National Park

Our Rig: 36’ 5th Wheel. Tow Vehicle: Ram Dually long-bed

Cost: $46.80/night with Good Sam Discount

Full Hook Up. Gravel sites. Easy to maneuver around Park.

Small Park but very clean. GREAT staff in the office, too!

Sites were VERY wide. Outside sites backed up to fences but we had about 20’ between us and the fence.

Every time someone leaves, they drag the site with a large chain-link fence apparatus that smooths the site. This kept ruts from forming and kept the sites more level. GREAT idea!

Very nice area behind the Office with Adirondack chairs, BBQ area.

Close to Wal-Mart and grocery stores and restaurants.

Clean Laundry and Shower facilities - Spotless which is a plus at RV parks these days!

It was 10 miles to Mesa Verde’s gate and then you drive another 30 minutes to get to the ruins. Not bad but we only visited the Park one day.

We drove 45 miles (about an hour on mountainous roads) to Durango to catch the American Railroad Durango to Silverton Durango to Silverton Train. It is a beautiful drive and the train ride was one of the highlights of our Southwest Trip.

More on that in another Post
